Sony isn’t the first name you think of when you talk about the best new phones hitting the market, but this mix of beauty, simplicity, and toughness may change that. The Xperia Z features a 5-inch Full-HD “Reality Display”, Snapdragon S4 Pro 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 14 mega-pixel camera, HDR video, microSD slot, and runs on the Android 4.1 (Jellybean) operating system. The phone also has a few other interesting features such as the “stamina” mode where it helps preserve your battery by turning off any battery-hogging apps and programs while the phone’s not in use. There’s also the fact that the phone has been specially designed to face the wear and tear of everyday use by being water and dust resistant – as seen in the photo above of water being poured directly on the phone. There’s no price available but the phone will be hitting most markets sometime in early to mid 2013 in black, white, and purple.
