Ever wanted to really see a movie at the theaters but couldn’t find anyone to go with? MovieGoer is a new app from Nettle that looks to solve this problem and make the movie going experience much more social. The free app for iPhone lets you see which friends are going to which movie, share movies you’re going to with friends, lets you scan local showtimes at multiple theaters, see trailers, detailed movie information, and more. Another aspect of MovieGoer is the 15 second review immediately after the movie which is done via video. This combined with critics reviews will help you and your friends decide which movies are worth seeing. Even if you don’t want to use the social aspect and would rather not have friends stalking you in the theater then the reviews section is worth it by itself. But if you are the social type who also likes to go to movies then this app is built just for you.

The video reviews seem to be a new way of reviewing but I hope there is still a way to give it a star rating. I will try it out later and see if it’s any good. Does it integrate friends from Facebook?
No idea about Facebook integration. Not sure if you can give it a star rating once you do your video review but that would be nice. I think they may have a little bit of a “chicken and egg” problem though since I’m not sure how many people will want to do reviews via video. I’m not the target market though so I can’t speak on that too much.
Also try Filmaster app launhced in March this year – it looks Moviegoer does a lot of things in a similar fashion but lacks TV support.
Haven’t seen it but will have to check it out sometime.
Not sure what I’m supposed to do with this. I want something that can aggregate the reviews and just make the social part a feature. As those on TechCrunch would say this is just another feature and not an entire product. On top of all of that I dont think my friends would download this to even try it out.
I agree somewhat. I hope they expand on the review feature and just make the social aspect a feature. I also hope they add television as their reviews get more aggregated across multiple ways to rate. There needs to be a solution for movie reviews and recommendations since the streaming services who provide a lot of the accurate data are getting scattered. I know there are some alternatives but Rotten Tomatoes for existence never seems to be real accurate anymore.
